Beth’s Story
Beth came to us looking for something new: she’d tried a number of jobs and none of them had really worked out how she would have liked.
She was a little unsure of taking up a placement at Bren Bikes as she wasn’t sure if it was the right placement for her. With a little bit of tailored support, Beth found that she really enjoyed working in the workshop, and built a great relationship with staff and volunteers there. She told us that she’d like to make her next step a placement on the high street, in a shop or cafe. The Bren Project had just been contacted by the manager of Chester’s city centre Starbucks branch, who had heard about the work the charity has been doing, and was keen to get involved.
Beth threw herself into her work at Starbucks with great energy and dedication, becoming a valued member of the team. She was supported in the role by one of our job coaches, who found that Beth was a natural when it came to engaging with customers and putting a smile on everyone’s face.
